Clash of Class
Assistant Producer
The Last of '34 & Clash of Class
I undertook the role of Assistant Producer for both The Last of '34 & Clash of Class. Both films/teams required me to have similar responsibilities from each other.
For both films I had to help schedule all the meetings for everybody and keep a form of register to keep track of who attended which meetings, also I had to keep minutes of the meetings. I also had to create an agenda for the forthcoming meetings with my Producers and Production Managers so that we can keep on track with what we need to talk about per meeting.
Whilst working with the Production Manager I set up auditions for the characters of our film, I used websites such as StarNow and Mandy to put out an advert for the kind of actors we were looking for. Any responses we got I swiftly relayed to my Producer so that we could short list the actors we wanted to audition.
I was also the first point of contact with all the actors we had auditioned as I was the one meeting and greeting them at the reception of the University as well as showing them to the preassigned room we had for the auditions.
This Collaborative Project has taught me that making films, however short they may be takes a lot of careful preparation throughout the pre-production, production and post-production stages. It is also important that you have a great team to support you, and also a team that trust each other with the roles they have in the production. I learnt that if all those bases are covered then the the film will turn out as good as the team had hoped, possibly even better.
Editor
Dolomites Fire 2018 & Punta Aguila Resort & Hotel
I undertook the role of editor as part of my Final Major Project, although I have knowledge of editing I wanted to get into the practise of editing again once again, especially because I wanted to learn how to edit on Adobe Premiere Pro which I have not done in the past, but now I have learnt how to use the software.
I now have knowledge of editing on the following softwares:
-
Final Cut Pro
-
Adobe Premiere Pro
-
Sony Vegas Pro
Outside of University I filmed and edited a few of commercial videos for a beach resort in the Philippines that I have a personal stake in. I used a Canon 50D for for the main footage and a DJI Phantom 3 for the drone footage.

Casting Director
Quiet Habits
One role I undertook is the role of Casting Director for Quiet Habits. The clients were planning on creating a television short pilot. I worked on this project due to the fact I have been an Assistant Producer in the past for two different short films and I was also responsible for casting those films despite not being given the title of Casting Director.
Presenter & Talent Researcher
Aeon
For the live event that the course held I was one of the presenters and was also given the job of talent researcher.
I learnt how to research signers and bands to find the correct style of music that would work well with the vent we were hosting as well as reaching out to the bands that we wanted. The most valuable thing I learnt whilst being a talent researcher is that always have a back up plan and or acts because someone if not everyone will back out at the very last minute. Booking talent without any money to pay for them is extremely difficult but possible. I just learnt that I had to use all the resources that was available to me to make sure that I did my part for my head of department and my producers.
As for presenting I gained skills of adapting to the situation given to me as nothing would ever go to plan. We stuck to the script as much as we could but the the running order would often change. Which forced as to do some ad lib on the spot live on camera. A skill I didn’t expect to learn was to learn a choreographed dance to “Time Warp” from the film “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” as it was a way to get the audience’s attention by having a flashmob to start off the event.
